Varsha Jha
Madhubani painter, working in the Bharni and Kachni styles of Mithila and painting Kohbar wedding art.
How Varsha works
Varsha paints in the Bharni and Kachni styles of Mithila, and makes Kohbar wedding paintings. Every painting is drawn and painted by hand, one at a time, with acrylic colour and archival ink on cotton paper. There are no prints: each piece on this site is the only one of its kind.
Her subjects come from the life and faith of Mithila: Krishna and the gopis, the Kohbar of a wedding, fish and lotus, and the women of the villages at their work.
