All paintings

Two ways of painting

Most of Varsha's work is in one of two classic Mithila styles.

Bharni · filled

Colour fills every shape

Figures are outlined twice and filled with flat, bright colour. Used for gods, goddesses and festive scenes, like Krishna Leela.

Kachni · line

Built from fine lines

Hatching, dots and tiny repeated marks in black and red, like Sacred Fish.

Kohbar · wedding

The painting of a marriage

Painted for the bridal chamber, with fish, lotus and bamboo as blessings. Read about the symbols.

Painted for your home or wedding

A Kohbar for a wedding, a pair of fish for an anniversary, or a deity for the puja room, painted to your size.
