About the painting

Two large fish swim side by side above a pond of red lotuses and green leaves. Every scale carries its own small pattern, set against a yellow sky and blue water.

A pair of fish is one of the most auspicious images in Mithila. It is painted for weddings and given as a blessing to couples, which makes this painting a natural choice for a wedding or anniversary gift.
